I grew up outside of Bloomfield, Indiana for the first 18 years of my life in which my first job was detasseling corn with Pioneer at age 13. Being raised in the country on 10 acres and a pond gave me a deep appreciation for Hoosier life and finding meaning out in nature.
After going to college for a year at Cincinnati Bible College, I decided to move to Las Vegas to work in a low-income community doing youth mentorship and after-school literacy with non-profit organization that recruited young people to live in community and serve others. It was there that I met my future wife, Danielle, in which our assigned work duties for the organization involved washing dishes together. Twelve years later we are still living a life of fun, excitement, and joy!
After we left Las Vegas, both of us moved to Shanghai, China and taught English as a Second Language to both kindergarten children and young adults. Two and a half years later, we both decided to finish our undergraduate degrees at age 23 and relocated to Johnson University in Knoxville Tennessee where I received a double major in Urban and Biblical Studies. Afterwards, I picked up my graduate degree in Urban Studies and Community Development from Eastern University and my wife finished her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy all while both of us worked full-time and had two children.
We decided to move back to Indiana because my mom was battling cancer and a job opened up at DePauw University in their community service office that worked with programs that helped connect university students to the surrounding community in volunteer programs at the schools and various nonprofits. My family has lived in this community for the last five years and love living here and hope to represent all people regardless of party affiliation at county level government. We have connected with a lot of wonderful people through work, schools, our church, and just being active in the community and for that we are thankful and want to continue setting a framework for a positive community.
In 2018, I unsuccessfully ran for Putnam County Council, but was able to build momentum around my campaign and was asked to run for City Council at Large in Greencastle.
